What to do with children during hot summer days?

25 tips that will save your summer — from water games to peaceful afternoons in the shade.

There are days when the thermometer shows more than 30 °C, and after just a few minutes outside, you feel like everyone is melting. Children are full of energy, but prolonged exposure to direct sunlight is not safe. So, what to do to enjoy the summer even during the greatest heat?

I have prepared a list of ideas for you that will entertain children, cool them down, and perhaps save many a summer day for you.

1

Water station in the garden or on the balcony

All you need is a bucket of water, cups, a funnel, plastic animals, or cars. Children can pour water for an hour.

2

Picnic in the shade

You don't have to go far. Spread a blanket under a tree, prepare fruit, vegetables, and plenty of water. Even an ordinary snack tastes much better outdoors.

3

Homemade ice cream

Blend a banana with strawberries or mango, pour into molds, and freeze. Children will enjoy it, and you'll know exactly what they ate.

4

Water painting

A brush, water, and a sidewalk. Children can draw pictures that the sun gradually "erases".

5

Bubble races

Who can make the biggest bubble? Or how many can they catch?

6

Visit to the library

Pleasant coolness, new books, and a calmer program for the hottest part of the day.

7

Cinema at home

Draw the curtains, prepare popcorn, and have a movie morning.

8

Ice cream hunt

Hide paper ice cream pictures at home and have the children find them according to clues.

9

Ice painting

Freeze colored water and let the children paint with ice cubes.

10

Water balloons

They don't just have to be for throwing. Try carrying them with a spoon or hitting a bucket.

11

Washing toys

A bucket of soapy water and old cars or animals. Fun and tidiness in one.

12

Fruit skewers

Children love to help prepare food. Plus, fruit often tempts them more when it looks fun.

13

Early morning walk

If you want to go to the playground, leave right after breakfast. It will be more pleasant and less crowded.

14

Trip to the forest

It's several degrees cooler in the forest than in the city.

15

Treasure hunt

Prepare a simple map and hide a small reward.

16

Inflatable pool

It doesn't have to be big. Even a few centimeters of water can pleasantly cool children down.

17

Crafting with natural materials

Collect pinecones, pebbles, or leaves and create pictures from them.

18

Baking together

During the midday break, you can bake muffins or prepare homemade pizza.

19

Reading fairy tales

The hottest part of the day between lunch and three o'clock is ideal for a calmer program.

20

Playing shop

Children love shopping. Create your own home shop with fruit or toys.

21

Painting pebbles

Collected pebbles can be turned into ladybugs, cars, or animals.

22

Bubble bath on the balcony

If you don't have a pool, a larger basin with foam will suffice.

23

Cloud gazing

Lie on a blanket and try to guess what each cloud resembles.

24

Evening walk

After sunset, it's finally pleasant. Take a balance bike or bicycle and go for a short walk.

25

Dress children in comfortable clothes

In hot weather, it's important for children to feel comfortable. Loose-fitting styles made from quality materials allow them to run, explore the world, and play without unnecessary restrictions. That's why we sew oversized pieces that are soft, airy, and give children plenty of freedom of movement.
